While we celebrate and support women on the daily, we are going extra hard for International Women’s Day. As you know, Friends NYC is a women-owned business, and one of our core values is community. Allow us to sing at the top of our lungs from the hill tops (i.e. on the world wide web) about these inspiring brands and the women behind them all. We are so lucky to call these bad ass ladies our friends and colleagues. They are the makers and shakers in our community, putting awesome goods out into the world, and looking real cute while they’re at it. #womensupportingwomen
Behold, long time BFF and jewelry maker, Lila Rice. If you see any of us on any given day, we’re probably wearing a Lila Rice piece. Her work is inspired by both the natural environment and the human realm of engineering, hardware, and mechanism, and she aims to create pieces that embody the beauty of both when they intersect. The maker's hand is evident in all work, creating a personalized distinction from the manufactured and fast-fashion, and is made to last a very long time.
Peak + Valley - @peakandvalleyco
Meet Nadine Joseph, the founder and CEO of Peak + Valley. She uses botanicals to create products for skin, brain and stress support. She travels worldwide and sources all their herbs herself, with the goal to support and uplift the global herbal community through direct sourcing practices. All while respecting and appreciating the cultural and ethnobotanical background of these ingredients. Powerful stuff!
Goldies - @goldiesnaturalbeauty

All the products are made in small batches, using thoughtfully sourced organic ingredients that are 100% free of parabens, preservatives, pthalates, formaldehyde, and other harmful chemicals. Part of what makes these products so exceptional is their simplicity. Sarah believes that the most basic form of luxury is ingredients in their purist forms, herbs and extracts harmoniously combined.

Tokosel Market - @tokosel.market
When Aïcha Diop isn’t busy making inspiring documentary films and rocking the scene in Toronto, she’s running Tokosel Market on Instagram. The shop has been on hiatus but is back in business March of 2022, just in time for International Women’s Day! Tokosel specializes in snazzy vintage + pre-loved things, and we love everything about them. This is a treasure chest that will touch all the nostalgic parts of your heart.
We truly stan all these amazing women. And we can’t stress enough how we need to be out there supporting and elevating each other. It’s an inspiration to run our business alongside such a community of strong, conscientious and creative humans.
