Milk Fed by Melissa Broder
Next up for the Friends NYC Book Club in November is: Milk Fed by Melissa Broder.
Follow mid 20s Rachel and journey of using dieting as a replacement for her Jewish faith, to understanding the interconnectedness of literal and spiritual nourishment. When Rachel takes a literal communication hiatus from the mother that has long driven her calorie counting, she befriends Miriam. Miriam, an Orthodox Jew who happens to work at Rachel's fave froyo shop, instinctually takes on a nurturing role with Rachel. Overall, the imaginative story centers around the relation of food, faith and sex and how that can feed a person's life.
Melissa Broder has also authored two other highly acclaimed novels, The Pisces and So Sad Today.
