Founded in 1978 by Helena Stuart, Only Hearts creates lingerie, sleepwear, and loungewear that is sexy, flirty, comfortable, and FUN. Now in Midtown, Helena and her daughter, designer Kaya Stuart, focus on creating pieces that are ethically manufactured to keep their footprint light and gentle on the environment. They even use selvages as paper towels in the factory to lower waste!
We were recently invited to tour the new location, get a sneak peek at the super-cute patterns for the winter season, and talk to Kaya about the impressive history at Only Hearts. So dim the lights because it's time to max out your sex appeal with some sexy lingerie.
How long has Only Hearts been in your current space in Midtown?
We opened our first studio in 1979 in the east 30s, which was in the lingerie district. Then we moved into the garment center proper in 2004. And in September of 2020, we moved into our current workspace.
What is the inspiration for the lingerie Only Hearts creates?
The inspiration for what we create comes from the feeling of wanting to be as free and as sexy as possible!
What is the Only Hearts girl like?
She’s sensuous, natural, and just a little bit naughty!
Only Hearts is sustainably made and ethically manufactured. Can you tell us a little more about that?
We have been manufacturing locally and working in our own communities, since the day our brand was born. We've always used natural, organic, recycled, certified made in green, deadstock, locally made, or otherwise produced with small footprint fabrics because that's the only thing that makes sense for our environment...and the only kinds of materials we want touching our skin.
We have extremely high quality control measures and standards to ensure our garments stand the test of time. We often hear of our customers passing their favorite camisoles and nighties down to their daughters! We are proud to be a true family business, having worked with many members of our team for 30+ years!
